Jamil Warney played full minutes and scored the game-winning basket.
On Feb. 22, Warney led Seoul SK to a 77-72 KCC 2024-2025 regular season victory over Wonju DB at Jamsil Student Gymnasium. The victory marked SK’s second straight opening two-game winning streak in four seasons, dating back to the 2021-22 season under head coach Jeon Hee-chul.
The man of the match was undoubtedly Warne. Warney recorded a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds in 40 minutes of action. He added two steals and two blocked shots, most notably a mid-range jumper and a 무료 토토사이트 three-pointer with the game tied 72-72 in the fourth quarter to give his team the win.
Warney also did his part in Onuaku’s stifling defense. After the game, head coach Jeon Hee-chul said, “Warney has lost a lot of weight. In the future, you can see him running with the ball himself on the fast break. I didn’t plan to have him play the whole game, but it was an important game, so I think he played the whole game.”
Game Recap
We played DB three times in two weeks, so we knew they were a strong team. Today, we struggled in the beginning of the game as well. Last season, if our shots didn’t go in, it would spread out early, but today, unlike before, we were determined to overcome it, and I thought we had a chance to win. I think that’s how we played the game and it paid off.
You scored the last basket in a tight game.
On defense, the guys kept grabbing rebounds, which gave us good opportunities. Last season, we often gave up in the third quarter and collapsed. This time, we didn’t do that and the players stuck together. I was able to make the last shot because they believed in me.
At the beginning of the game, you almost got seriously hurt by an opponent’s foul. Is there any injury?
The foul was too strong. It was a strong foul that could have hurt the other player.
What drives good defense.
It’s good that all the players are putting their energy into defense. Last season, Oh Jae-hyun or Choi Won-hyuk would put more energy into defense and the other players would focus on offense, but this year is different. All players are involved in defense. I think that’s why we have a good defense.
About Onuaku.
Onuaku is a good player in both offense and defense. But instead of thinking about beating him, I was thinking about my team first.
