South Korean diving sensation Woo Haram failed to reach the podium in his third Olympic attempt.

The South Korean diver finished 11th out of 12 competitors in the men’s 3-meter springboard final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Monday (Aug. 8) at the Paris Aquatics Center in Paris, France, with a total of 374.15 points in the first through sixth periods.

Uharam qualified for the semifinals in 12th place with a score of 389.10 points in the preliminaries, and then punched his ticket to the final with a ninth-place finish in the semifinals on Saturday with a total of 432.00 points for periods one through six.

Uharam earned 71.40 points in the first period for his performance of “5154B,” a difficulty level 3.4 that required him to “spin two laps in a body-beating motion and two and a half laps in a pike position with legs straight and arms holding the legs with both hands. 10th out of 12 finalists. 15.30 points behind Tyler Carson, who scored 86.70 in the first period.

In the second period, she scored 68.00 for her performance of “407C,” a difficulty 3.4 “backward stand, leap, and three and a half turns. She was ranked 9th in the second period and 10th overall.

In the third period, she performed a 109C with a difficulty level of 3.8, “stand forward, leap, and spin forward four and a half times,” for a score of 45.60. She dropped to 10th place in the third period and 11th overall.

In the fourth period, which required a rebound, she performed a 307C with a difficulty of 3.5, “jump forward, spin backward, bend your legs into a tuck, and spin three and a half times in the air,” for a score of 73.50, improving her fourth period ranking to fifth and her overall ranking back to 10th.

In the fifth round, she scored 63.00 points for “205B,” a difficulty 3.0 that required her to “dive backwards into the pool, grab her legs and do two and a half laps. His score was ninth out of 12 and he moved up one spot to ninth overall.

In the final sixth period, she attempted “5156B,” the highest difficulty of the day at 3.9, a “twisting forward two and a half rotations with a biting torso,” and finished with a score of 52.65.

Uharam has been a fixture in South Korean diving since she was a teenager. At the age of 16, he competed at the Incheon Asian Games, where he won a silver medal in the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform.

He went on to win bronze in the 사설 토토사이트 synchronized 3-meter springboard, 10-meter platform, and 1-meter springboard. He quickly became one of the top prospects in the diving underdogs.

At Rio 2016, he became the first South Korean diving athlete in history to reach an Olympic final. He finished 11th overall in the men’s 10-meter platform final with a total of 414.55 points after six events.

At the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju and the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, he made Korean diving history.

In Gwangju, he finished fourth in both the 1-meter springboard and 3-meter springboard. It was the best result for South Korean men’s diving in history.

He also made a name for himself on the Asian stage. He won one silver and three bronze medals at Incheon 2014 and two silver and bronze medals at Jakarta-Palembang 2018. At the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, he won a silver medal in the men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard event.

This will be his third Olympic attempt. At Rio de Janeiro 2016, he reached the Olympic final for the first time in South Korean diving history (men’s 10-meter platform), finishing 11th, and at Tokyo 2020, he finished fourth (men’s 3-meter springboard), South Korea’s best-ever finish.

Uharam suffered a setback after Tokyo. A back injury sidelined him for more than a year and a half. He missed the World Championships in Budapest that year due to a herniated disk, and his performance at the World Championships in Fukuoka was somewhat lackluster as he failed to qualify.

However, she broke out of her slump and improved her performance, finishing eighth at the World Championships in Doha and punching her ticket to Paris.

Her teammate Lee Jae-kyung, meanwhile, missed out on the final after finishing 17th in the semifinals with a total of 366.50 points.

South Korea has competed in diving since the 1960 Rome Olympics, but has yet to win a medal. Woo Haram’s best finish was fourth at Tokyo 2020.
