Olympiakos (Greece), in the absence of Hwang In-Beom, has joined the 2023-2024 UEFA Europa League playoffs.

Olympiakos came back from a 0-1 deficit to draw 1-1 in the second leg of their 2023-2024 Europa League Third Qualifying Round tie against Heinke (Belgium) at the Segeka Arena in Heinke, Belgium, on Monday (June 18), thanks to a dramatic late equalizer.

Olympiacos, which won the first leg 1-0 on Nov. 11, secured a playoff spot with a 2-1 aggregate score after the first and second legs and will play Chukaritskiy (Serbia) for a spot in the main group.

Olympiakos left midfielder Hwang In-beom off the roster to face Hengk.

The two sides have been at odds since Hwang asked Olympiacos for a transfer, and he was recently dropped from the roster altogether.

Olympiacos struck first from the penalty spot in the 30th minute, but gained a numerical advantage in the second 20 minutes when Henk’s Joseph Paintsil was sent off after receiving a red card.

Olympiakos were unable to find the back of the net until Sotiris Alexandropoulos scored a ‘theater goal’ in stoppage time to level the score at 1-1.

Olympiacos were briefly threatened by a man down in stoppage time, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw, punching their ticket to the playoffs.
