Paris Saint-Germain’s coveted talent, Xavi Simmons, will be playing for a different team next season. This is good news for Lee Kang-in and other contenders for the position.
“Simmons will not play for Paris Saint-Germain next season,” French soccer transfer market expert Santi Auna said on social media on Sunday (July 27), adding, “The decision has been made over the past few weeks. He will leave Paris Saint-Germain on loan again this summer.”
“If Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sell Simmons in the summer transfer window, they would have done so long ago,” he continued, ruling out the possibility of an outright transfer. “There are no plans to sell him. Instead, we will send him out on loan.”
French outlet RMC Sport also reported on Tuesday that Simmons will not be returning to PSG this summer, saying “he no longer wants to stay in Paris.”
After signing a professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain in 2021-22, Simmons was loaned to the Dutch Eredivisie for the 2022-23 season to gain first-team experience. In his first full year as a regular, he scored a whopping 19 goals in 34 appearances to finish as joint top scorer with Anastasios Dubicas.
He also chipped in eight assists, helping his club PSV Eindhoven to a second-place finish. It’s a remarkable feat for a first-year pro and a midfielder.
He was also selected to represent the Netherlands at last year’s World Cup in Qatar, where he played against the United States in the group stage.
Simmons made his name as a soccer prodigy with FC Barcelona’s youth team, La Masia. Interestingly, it was during his time at La Masia that Enrique, the Barcelona coach from 2014 to 2017, was expected to utilize Simons when he took the reins at Paris Saint-Germain this season.
However, Enrique opted to loan him out on 바카라 loan to give Simmons more playing time. Simmons thrived in Germany, a level above the Netherlands. In 43 appearances across cup competitions, he scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists in an impressive tally that was considered a step up.
Like Lee, Simmons can play central midfield and attacking midfield, as well as left and right wingers. That’s why he’s seen as a potential position competitor for Lee.
Having proven his quality at Leipzig, a step up, Simmons’ stock is only growing. Spanish giants FC Barcelona are also reportedly looking to add Simmons to their roster.
French journalist Abdella Bulma said, “Some things are certain, some are not, but what we do know is that he spent this season on loan at Leipzig. President Nasser Al Khelaifi loves him, Luis Enrique loves him, everyone at Paris Saint-Germain thinks highly of him. But Simmons has the final say,” he said.
“It’s basically a three-way battle. Paris Saint-Germain have no chance of selling him before 2025. Unless someone offers €100 million or at least the current value (€80 million).” ”Again, the only thing we 바카라사이트 can be sure of is that he has a say, and we’ve been told that the club are not sure about this. If the current trend continues, he will be loaned out for another year, either to Leipzig or somewhere else.”
Meanwhile, Enrique has declared to his squad that next season will be a competitive one without Kylian Mbappe. “I’m sure we’ll have new players in every position next season,” Enrique said, before adding: “This is a message to the players currently in the squad, even the best ones. I want two important players for each position next season,” he said.
