Bad news for the Samsung Lions.

Outfielder Denny Reyes was placed on the disabled list after spraining his ankle while pitching.

Reyes was cruising through the fifth inning of his start against the KIA Tigers at KIA Champions Field in Gwangju on Nov. 11, allowing three runs on seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts. He threw just 62 pitches through the fifth inning in an aggressive, no-ball game.

In the top of the sixth inning with a 4-3 lead, Kim felt something was wrong.

After two foul balls and a three-pitch slider, he abruptly called the trainer to the dugout. He pointed to his left foot, which is his stepping foot, and complained of discomfort. After consulting with the pitching coach and trainer, he left the mound.

A Samsung representative said, “Reyes suffered pain when his left ankle folded inward during the pitching process. He is currently undergoing medical treatment to check his condition.”
